Old Bridge
Distance from the hotel: about 15–17 min walk
The symbol of Mostar and a UNESCO World Heritage site - a 16th-century stone arch linking the two banks of the Neretva.

The original bridge was built in 1566 by order of Suleiman the Magnificent. The current bridge was reconstructed in 2004 using the same techniques, with stone from a local quarry.
The best photographs come from the nearby Lučki bridge or the platform near the Crooked Bridge - the light is especially flattering in late afternoon.
In season you can watch the traditional bridge dives, which have continued uninterrupted since 1664.
Good to know
- •Arrive early in the morning or after 7 pm to avoid the largest crowds.
- •The stone pavement is smooth and slippery when wet - comfortable shoes recommended.
- •Walking onto the bridge itself is free.
